End-of-Year Appeal
Dear Panorama readers,
Panorama, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, has been a big part of how open-access publishing has reshaped our field. It is our goal to continue to grow, change, and adapt alongside it, both in terms of the scholarly content we publish and how we present that content.
Panorama has always aimed to create opportunities for younger scholars to advance their careers. We see the field of American art history as expansive, collaborative, and generous. There is a tradition of mentorship and support: a lineage of mature scholars sharing their networks, encouraging their students and junior colleagues, and growing the field. Panorama itself is the fruit of this spirit of giving.
We want to continue to publish Panorama for years to come. To secure this future, we have been engaged throughout this year in rigorous and productive conversations with several foundations about our long-term future. Grants from the Henry Luce Foundation, Terra Foundation for American Art, Wyeth Foundation for American Art, and Andrew W. Mellon Foundation have enabled us to increase the compensation structure for our Managing Editor and Copy Editor, offer stipends to our editorial team, create our new Manager of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Digital Art History position, and provide honoraria to our contributors. Our new compensation structure recognizes the significant time and effort involved in research, writing, and publishing. By remunerating our editors and contributors for their time and expertise, Panorama supports our academic community and promotes equity and access, ultimately helping to sustain the journal and the future of our discipline.
